Eslite Spectrum Suzhou Store & Residential Towers
Eslite Spectrum Suzhou Store & Residential Towers
China's eastern coastal province of Jiangsu is home to Suzhou, a major economic center and focal point of trade and commerce. Suzhou is located about 100 km northwest of Shanghai, and is the province's second largest city after Nanjing. Between 2000 and 2014 Suzhou's population grew 6.5% year-on-year (the greatest growth rate for any city over 5 million in population). Combined with high levels of economic growth, the city is a prime choice for real estate development.
Eslite Co. Ltd. is Taiwan's largest owner and operator of bookstores, with nearly 50 locations. The company's first international expansion into Hong Kong was a success, also currently with multiple locations. For their first expansion into China, Eslite Co. Ltd. chose Suzhou. For this mixed-use project, Eslite Co. Ltd. partnered with Mitsubishi Estate Co. Ltd., Japan's second largest real estate developer (the property division of Mitsubishi Group). The project consists of a central retail complex flanked on opposite ends by two residential towers. The 4-story retail complex houses the Eslite Spectrum store. Spectrum is Eslite's brand, encompassing their bookstore, lifestyle and fashion retail operations, and cafes. The two residential towers feature 292 units ranging from 94 m^2 to 350 m^2. The project was completed in 2015. |
