Fu Jen Catholic University College of Medicine Research Building
Fu Jen Catholic University College of Medicine Research Building
Formally established almost 100 years ago by the Holy See of the Catholic Church, Fu Jen Catholic University (FJU) is the Chinese-speaking world's oldest Catholic institution of higher learning. The large population of more than 25,000 students study a variety of disciplines up to the Ph.D. level. Located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, the FJU campus has slowly evolved from a low-density suburb into a highly populated urban environment dominated by mid-rise buildings.
The FJU College of Medicine was established in 1990 and has grown to offer many areas of study such as mental health and long-term care, along with full medical and nursing schools. The College of Medicine's growing size was addressed with a new addition to the existing academic facility. A large curved glass curtain wall spans both the existing and new buildings, uniting them as one. Completed in September 2006, the new addition includes medical laboratories, clinical trial centers, a library, a convention hall, outpatient clinics, and administrative spaces. |
