New Taipei City is Taiwan's most populous and second largest city. Located in northern Taiwan, New Taipei City completely surrounds the national capital Taipei and also occupies a substantial stretch of the island's northern coastline. An expansive road and rail network makes much of New Taipei City easily accessed from Taipei. Gongliao District is the easternmost of New Taipei City's 29 districts. With its long stretch of coastline (and as one of New Taipei City's least densely populated areas), Gongliao District is a popular tourist destination.
Aodi is a small fishing village and is one of Gongliao District's most popular attractions. The numerous fresh seafood restaurants combined with the natural scenery make an ideal spot for city dwellers to unwind from Taipei's fast-paced lifestyle. Gene Group, a Taiwanese real estate developer, recently started a new project near Aodi called Next-Gene 21+, a mixed-use development that seeks to make this vision a reality. Next-Gene 21+ is comprised of an Architecture Museum and over 20 individually designed stand-alone villas. The project is intended to showcase the talents of numerous renowned international architects. The Architecture Museum and villas showcase striking designs, expressing the character of their respective architects while highlighting the beauty of the Taiwanese countryside. The unique form of the buildings necessitates innovative structural systems that allow for the fullest expression of the architects' designs without limitation of interior layout options. King-Le Chang & Associates provided structural engineering services on the Architecture Museum and four of the villas. The Next-Gene 21+ Architecture Museum was completed in 2013, and the villas are currently in pre-construction. |
